Canon to buy quarter of Hitachi LCD panel unit.

TOKYO (Reuters) - Japanese camera and office equipment maker Canon Inc said it would pay $403 million for a quarter stake in Hitachi Ltd’s LCD panel business to get its own supply of parts for its cameras and copiers. Canon and Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. agreed in December to buy 24.9 percent each of the LCD panel maker, Hitachi Displays, now wholly owned by Hitachi. Canon, the world’s largest maker of digital cameras, currently has to buy LCD panels for its cameras, camcorders, copiers and printers.

Wednesday’s announcement of the price Canon will pay is the latest in a flurry of alliances in Japan’s LCD panel and flat TV industry as companies seek ways to share hefty investment bills and hedge against the risk of oversupply. Canon wants to eventually buy Hitachi Displays stakes from Matsushita, the maker of Panasonic products, and Hitachi Ltd to make it a subsidiary. Matsushita has so far not revealed the purchase for its quarter.

Canon Rebel XSi/CANON 450D

Canon 400d vs 450d

Side by side comparison of Canon Rebel XSi(450D) and Canon XTi(400D). Source pic : Dpreview.com

The Canon Rebel XSi is also known as “Canon 450D”. A friend of mine is asking an opinion about the latest model of digital SLR camera. He would like to change from the PNS camera to digital SLR camera. The reason is he want to capture a better photo.

As i mention before, it is not the camera itself to create a good photo but it more on what is your discipline toward photography style i.e portrait, sport, landscape, macro etc. That is why most people buying the digital SLR camera at last do not fully utilize the function of the camera. It is a big wasted for the money. I am not going to discuss further about that since i already post the article “how to choose Digital SLR Camera” previously.

To ease all the loyal reader of my blog about this canon brand. I had tabulated the summary as for comparison on specification for both camera for your review. This is specially dedicated to Canon fans :

DESCRIPTION REBEL XSi (450D) REBEL XTi (400D)
MEGA PIXEL 12.2 10
ISO RANGE 100 to 1600 100 to 1600
CONTINUOUS SPEED 3.5 photo / sec 3 photo / sec
LCD SIZE 3.0-inch 2.5-inch
LIVE VIEW YES NO
AUTO FOCUS 9 9
MEMORY TYPE SD/SDHC Flash Card

The only way to capture photo on DLSR camera you have to look through the viewfinder. But, the CANON XSi has came together with LIVE VIEW !!! What a wonderful of innovation. So,you may not worry to capture photo whether at your knee level or over the head.
